Small Christian Communities

Small Christian Communities at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs intend to provide a warm home-based environment that facilitates a personal growth in faith, hope and love of the Gospel message through prayer, scripture reading, faith sharing, and Christian fellowship. SCC groups usually consist of 10 to 12 people of various ages who meet on a regular basis. Some focus on 6 weeks during Advent and 6 weeks during Lent to read, discuss, and share scripture in a prayerful environment. The group meets in a member’s home with a trained facilitator and uses a self-directed workbook entitled “QUEST”.  The meetings last approximately 1 1/2 hours with the focus being the readings of the next Sunday’s liturgy. Other groups use various spiritually focused books and materials and meet monthly throughout the year. Questions are discussed which enable the group to share themselves with applications to everyday life. Prior experience with scripture is not needed. There is the understanding within the group that all discussions are confidential to the group.
